Wuthering Heights is a book about love. Forbidden love. There are thousands if not millions of books all about love, but there are three books about love that I find are similar to Wuthering Heights: Romeo and Juliet by William Shakesspeare, Forbidden by Tabitha Suzuma, and Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire.
Romeo and Juliet is one of my favourite books by Shakespeare. Romeo and Juliet are both young lovers, just like Catherine and Heathcliff. Both stories have dysfunctional families (Lintons and Earnshaws, Capulets and Montagues) and their young love is forbidden. No one approves of Catherine and Heathcliff's love, just as no one approved of Romeo and Juliet's love. Both love stories were so desirous that it lead to death.
Forbidden is a book about, you guessed it, forbidden love. But this story isn't about any regular star-crossed lovers, here's the catch- they're brother and sister. This is just a summary about how you can't choose who you fall in love with, just like Catherine and Heathcliff. Catherine and Heathcliff had a lot of obstacles trying to rip their love apart (society class, family), just like people who judged Maya and Lochan. Also, some argue that Catherine and Heathcliff's love is incestuous due to the fact that they grew up together, and Mr. Linton told Catherine and Hindley that Heathcliff was their cousin.
Beautiful Disaster is about a good girl who meets a bad boy who is hopelessly devoted to her. Heathcliff is portrayed as rough and uncivilized, while Catherine is turned into a lady at her stay at Thrushcross Grange. Bad boys attract good girl and girls want what they can't have. Travis and Abby get judged because their love is so wrong, just like Catherine and Heathcliff. Both stories' characters are so wrong for each other, their stories are intriguing and captivating.
